The Club commenced on 09/12/1987 and was known as Penrith City Indoor Rifle
Club. The Club came
into existence partly
as a result of the
"Unsworth" gun
laws. The Club shot in
commercial premises along with a number of other Clubs which eventually closed
for a variety of reasons.
In early May 1990, the Club was granted approval to shoot at Hylands Road Small
Bore Rifle Range by Holroyd Council and continues
there to this day.
The Club became an incorporated body on 13th August 1989 and changed
the
name to Western Sydney Rifle Club on the 18th February 1993.
With the changes to the gun laws, as proposed in 1996, the Club had to apply
for registration and on 21st November 1997 the NSW Police Service granted the
required approval (Approval number 405672497).
In July 1997 WSRC affiliated with the NSW Shooting Association and over the
years this has proved to be a wise choice and continues to the present.
